New Balance has partnered with Younes Bendjima on a new edition of the classic New Balance 992 running shoe to inaugurate the launch of his Paris-based creative agency, Studio FY7. It serves homage to both Bendjima’s Algerian heritage and upbringing in Lyon, France, with sueded uppers that serve as a reflection of the coloration and curvature of the dunes of Southern Algeria, while it black circular cutaways symbolize the ancient architecture of Ghardaïa. Finally, the shoe’s brown insoles stand as a gentle testament to the enduring appeal of North African aesthetics.
This release will be the fourth and final product dropped by Studio FY7 to mark the official opening, and it will be done so in very limited quantities. There’s said to be a mere 250 pairs up for grabs on October 23, and they’ll only be available on studiofy7.com@ 12 pm PST — and likely the aftermarket shortly after release.
