Nike SB is currently working with Mexican soda brand Jarritos for a collaborative take on the Nike SB Dunk Low for 2023.

Expected to form part of the brand’s Spring 2023 schedule, the Jarritos x Nike SB Dunk Low will be the first collaborative partnership between the two parties; in fact, it’s the very first footwear project for the drink maker. At this stage, details surrounding the design remain a mystery, with neither party prepared to comment on its existence.

This release is yet another milestone in Nike SB’s gradual shift away from its early subcultural ties, with mainstream motives now playing a big role in the Nike subdivision’s plans. Early designs from the likes of MF Doom have been overshadowed by corporations like Polaroid, Ben & Jerry’s, and the ill-fated 7-Eleven release. And although the brand still looks to the likes of FAUST and Neckface, it’s more familiar brands like Jarritos that are attracting larger crowds into the Nike SB Dunk fandom.

Jarritos has recently been front and center to the streetwear and pop culture scene, having partnered with Kith for a limited-edition pack of bottles back in August, as well as a sock collaboration and its own NFT collection.

Update 11.21.22 A very first look at the Jarritos x Nike SB Dunk Low has landed courtesy of Masterchefian.A lightly-textured off-white leather upper serves as its base, with natural tear-away burlap overlays reminiscent of fruit sacks. Bold green Swooshes and tan tongues follow suit, with Jarritos branding on the lateral ankle, tongue, insole, and heel. Its white midsole is met by contrast orange stitching, with green rubber outsoles complete with a splash of orange underfoot.
