Every November, Nike’s focus shifts to getting the youth if Native American and Indigenous communities in North America more active, so they can lead healthier, happier, and more successful lives. Since its creation in 2009, the Nike N7 Fund has awarded more than $8 million in grants, administered by the Charities Aid Foundation of America, to more than 270 communities and organizations. And whilst we normally see Nike’s N7 releases touch down in Native American Heritage Month, this year has certainly presented logistical challenges. But despite the delays, the pairs are on the way, including this all-new woven cork Air Force 1 N7.
Though it’s not confirmed, the pair may well be another co-effort between Nike and Ananas Anam Ltd., creator of Piñatex, given its appearance. Here you’ll find strips of intertwined cork and ribbon, the latter working through hues of blues and yellow — similar to that seen on the recently-revealed Nike Kyrie 8 N7. Elsewhere you’ll notice a big focus on sustainability, with grind rubber-flooded sole units, and what appears to be recycled wheat textiles at the forefoot, heel, and Swoosh overlays.
