Alternating between the Air Max 97 and the Air Force 1 Low, Nike’s annual Puerto Rican Day release has recently been under scrutiny. Nike has been feeling the heat with all the mishaps, from flipped flags to misappropriated artwork. This year the Swoosh will look to deliver not one but two iterations of the Uptown to make amends, with this new Nike Air Force 1 Low “Puerto Rico” for 2022 joining the previously-previewed “Boricua” colorway in honoring the annual Puerto Rican Day festivities.

Though it is again focused on the traditional game of dominoes, the pair brings a significant shift to the celebration. While the Boricua is delivered in multi-pastel suedes and mismatched blocking, this release retains a simple white leather construct. It dives into dominoes with inspired perforations, dubraes, and included accessories, all whilst capturing the native hues of white, red, and blue in a subtle manner. A bright blue Swoosh and heel overlay set rest in soft suede, the latter clad with PR detailing, with special graphic insoles and “Familia”-branded boxing completing the design.

A release date for the 2022 Air Force 1 Low “Puerto Rico” is yet to be revealed, but you can expect to see a rollout in June during the annual Puerto Rican Day celebrations. Until more details emerge, grab a detailed look at the pair below, and keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further developments.
