Matthew M. Williams, the creative force behind 1017 ALYX 9SM, continues to leave his distinct mark in the fashion world with his latest collaboration with Nike, despite stepping down as the majority stakeholder of ALYX Studio.

Williams, now steering the ship at Givenchy, first caught the sneaker world's attention in 2018 with a unique Air Force 1 High. This collaboration was a triumph in color simplicity and incorporated the signature ALYX Studio metal buckle around the tongue. Over the years, Williams has continued to reimagine Bruce Kilgore's iconic Air Force 1 design, experimenting with two-tone finishes and luxurious materials.

As 2024 approaches, Williams and Nike are poised to release a duo of sneakers that embody this minimalist yet premium approach. Williams was spotted in a “distressed” version of the Air Force 1 Low earlier this year emblazoned with the ALYX name. While it's unclear if that particular design will hit the shelves, the upcoming launch promises a similar aesthetic with two understated colorways: a crisp “White” and a sleek “Black.”

The ALYX x Nike Air Force 1 by Matthew M. Williams stays true to the original 1980s design but with some notable twists. Premium leather dominates the upper, complemented by special silver lace dubraes and eyelets that add a touch of modern sophistication. The “1017 ALYX 9SM” branding at the heel gleams in “Metallic Silver,” with additional co-branding on the tongue label and sock liners. Williams's subtle removal of one of the forefoot panels gives these shoes a streamlined, less-is-more appeal.

Nike SNKRS has just confirmed a release for the collaborative duo for December 15th. Pairs will retail at $155 each.
