Japan’s BEAMS to Release Culturally-Inspired Nike React Presto This Week!

The Dharma Initiative.

Japanese fashion brand and retailer BEAMS is ready to rock another Nike collaboration, this time on the recently revealedReact Presto.

Dubbed “Dharma,” the pair takes clear inspiration from Japans cultural history, with Daruma dolls the focal point. Now considered a talisman for good luck, the traditional dolls are modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen tradition of Buddhism. And while they vary greatly in size, color and design depending on region and artist, they always depict ol’ Bodhidharma, just like BEAMS has done here on the sneakers insoles.

Like tradition, the pair sports a vast array of colors in split color blocking, with the majority of the hues hitting the medial sides. Colros from magenta to orange, blue and green all appear on the medial sides and caging, while the lateral arrives in a crisp white, with a sole splash of orange on the outsole the only hit of hue. A white outsole holds it all together, while translucent-black plugs up the React sole unit.
