Nike will welcome the 2023 Lunar New Year with a smorgasbord of themed sneakers, from colorful creations that celebrate the festival’s vibrant fireworks and traditional prints, to direct nods to the zodiac animal of the impending year, the rabbit. Last seen in 2011, the bunny graced classics like the Air Jordan 7 and the Air Force 1 in limited quantities. For 2023’s celebration of the leporids, the Swoosh has called upon the model of the moment, with the Nike Dunk Low “Year of the Rabbit” expected to headline a collection of related colorways.
Giving a direct nod to the aforementioned Air Force 1, the 2023 Nike Dunk Low “Year of the Rabbit” leans on chenille Swooshes and character tongue tags (“Rabbit” in Chinese), and both lateral heel and insole motifs identical to those seen on 2011’s regional AF-1 release. Here, though, it forgoes the vibrant colors in favor of traditional leporids hues of fawn, sail, and cream; It’s then met with chunky gold 2023-branded dubraes, and matching metallic branding at the heel.
There is expected to be four total colorways, with the possibility of regional releases.
