I don’t care if you love, hate, or are indifferent to 1996’s Happy Gilmore, but there’s one universal feeling about the film; everybody loves Chubbs. Played by 80s action star and ex-Oakland Raider Carl Wheathers, the one-armed pro golfer took Gilmore’s special talent under his wing, guiding him from the rink to the green with a little finesse. The unlikely partners formed a strong bond that’s quite obviously in the same league as famous duos Lennon and McCartney, Batman and Robin, and Barbie and Ken.

2021 marks the 25th anniversary of Peterson’s death, so in the lead-up to the event, we’ve decided to commemorate the late, great golfer with a conceptualized Nike SB Dunk Low. Capturing Chubb’s signature style, we’ve opted for a fawn upper inspired by Peterson’s traditional slack and polo combo. His trademark lemon sweater is immortalized on the overlays, while his golf shoe color of choice — white — graces the profile Swoosh. Sole units arrive in green and golden gum — because gold jacket, green jacket, who gives a shit?, but also to channel the fairways and bunkers that line the way to the taking of the Tour Championship. Of course, it wouldn’t be a commemoration without the alligator who ended Peterson’s career, and ultimately, his life — but not before ripping out that suckers right eyeball.
