The market is hungry for Dunks right now, so much so that it seems you’d need a Golden Ticket to get your hands on just the General Releases. And when it comes to tasty drops like this week’s Ben & Jerry’s “Chunky Dunky” collab? Forget it. But through the SB silhouette’s resurgence, many, including our team in the Concept Lab, have been getting a little creative with it. We’ve noticed many more customs floating around the ‘gram, and even got challenged to do a Sour Patch Kids x Nike SB Dunk late last week. So in keeping with the candy theme, who better to celebrate than the world’s most infamous candy man, Willy Wonka?
Historically known for its adventurous colors and extremely diverse inspiration base, the Nike SB Dunk Low has seen everything and everything, including an Oompa Loompa Dunk back in 2005 — but with food being the current Dunk thematic, were taking a look at Willy’s best-selling block, the Wonka Bar.
And yes, we’re old, so we’re talking about the original design from 1971’s film “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” which sported a brown wrapper trimmed with pink, and completed with a white and gold Wonka Bar logo. Of course, Charlie was luckier than a bot on drop day, finding a Golden Ticket within his packet, represented here on the foil Swoosh and heel embroidery.
Unfortunately, you can’t get your hands on this candy concept creation, but with the SB Dunk continuing to venture into some weird and wild collaborations, we wouldn’t be surprised if we ever saw the theme come to life.
