The Nike Swoosh was drafted in 1971 by graphic design student Carolyn Davidson. Since then, it has transcended sport and become one of the worldโ€™s most recognizable logos. It was also subject to numerous articulations in the 1970s, ranging from the single Swoosh to the famous Futura logo lockup. Some of this diverse graphic design legacy is celebrated in a trio of new footwear packs, collected under โ€œThe Evolution of the Swoosh,โ€ releasing from Foot Locker, Inc. stores (Foot Locker, Champs Sports, Eastbay, and Footaction). Each carries a different articulation of the Swoosh across Air Max, Air Force 1 and React Element 55silhouettes.

    Script Swoosh Pack

Available for men and kids, the Script Swoosh Pack overlays Davidsonโ€™s hand-drawn Swoosh on the Air Force 1, Air Max 97, Air Max Plus and React Element 55. It releases August 10.

    Sunburst Pack

The Sunburst logo was developed in 1972 while considering how to translate the asymmetry of a single Swoosh to apparel. The circular nature of the design allowed for club names to be arched over it โ€” a regular conceit in collegiate and sportswear graphics of the era. The Sunburst Pack places this logo on the Air Force 1, Air Max 97, Air Max Plus and React Element 55. It releases August 31 in menโ€™s sizes.

    Swoosh Chain Pack

Another apparel-born application of the Swoosh is an interlinking articulation intended to embellish tracksuits and other garments that employ taping. The origins in team gear inspire the Swoosh Chain Pack, created exclusively for kids, through โ€™70s color schemes across the Air Force 1, Air Max 97 and Air Max Plus. The shoes release August 17.
