The Familia x Nike SB Dunk Low “First Avenue” Drops December 11

Minneapolis skate shop Familia has chanced another opportunity to collaborate with Nike SB on its most revered silhouette to celebrate its city’s most revered live music venue with this special-edition Familia x Nike SB Dunk Low “First Avenue”

Honoring the five-decade-old establishment, the pair is equipped with a bevy of callouts that would be fairly obvious to anyone who’s visited the venue located at 701 First Avenue North. Most notably, the building’s painted black brick exterior which features over 500 stars that commemorate past venue performers. The entire quarter overlays feature the brickwork and a singular star, whilst its toebox perforations feature star cuts, too. The rest of the sneaker also arrives in black, too, with leather uppers making up the bulk. These are rumored to wear away to purple to match the laces, all the while paying tribute to the venue’s most famous performer and fellow Minneapolian Prince (he filmed the famed Purple Rain video there back in 1984). 3M reflective Swooshes and rear overlays give a nightlife vibe, while special co-branded insoles feature the venue’s famous checkerboard floor, and showcase the first live show on April 3rd, 1970.

Though the pair was originally expected to celebrate the venue’s 50th anniversary in 2020, it’s likely that COVID delays have caused the production and release to be delayed. You can now expect to see these later in 2021.
