The Tinker Hatfield-designed Nike Air Raid has clearly been the epicenter of inspiration fo Jerry Lorenzo’s Nike Fear of God footwear capsule. Although only one pair has sported the recognizable cross-strap contraption (his Family and Friends Fear of God Air Raid), the influence is evident. The high-rise sole units, mid-to-high cuts, and overall athletic influence can be seen on his marquee Nike Air Fear of God to the Moc. But the aforementioned Family and Friends pair draws the closes comparison — even arriving in the OG black, white and grey colorway. But now it appears that the pair will be F&F no more, with Lorenzo himself confirming its release for later this Summer.
OG Nike Air Raid from 1992
Making a few quick appearances across several of the FOG x Nike lookbooks, the pair, as you can see, draws heavily from the OG pictured above, including like suede toe boxes and grey cross-over steps, black suede uppers and a clean white sole unit. It does, however, fit into the FOG x Nike aesthetic, closely aligning to the brand’s mid-cut Moc. While we don’t yet have word on an official date, Jerry says that these will be dropping “sometime this summer…”
In other Fear of God news, Foot Locker will be releasing more pairs of the Nike Air FOG 1 “Triple Black early next month.
