Nike, Inc.'s transition from John Donahoe to Elliot Hill has promised to return the brand to its winning ways. One such initiative detailed in internal plans and earnings calls has been a cutback on relying so heavily on franchises like the Dunk Low. And yet, Peter Moore's 40-year-old design continues forming part of the company's core lineup, which is expected to include a three-piece capsule featuring Harris Tweed® cloth.

Reported by Romania's ever-reliable Sneaker Market, the news arrives at a time when a lot of the mainstream consumer has moved on from the 1980s basketball shoe. Nevertheless, a thoughtful, well-executed collection donning the unique Harris Tweed® fabric could be enough to energize the Nike Dunk—or, at the very least, make it feel special again.

Most details on the impending project are still under wraps, but all three pairs are expected to release in "Multi-Color" makeups. Browsing the Harris Tweed Authority's website hints at some of the styles that could eventually end up on the sneakers. A collection with PUMA last year brought a healthy mix of earth tones and traditional tartan colors to the Suede VTG.

The trio is set to release exclusively in Women's sizing throughout fall. Pricing and retailer lists have yet to be disclosed by any party involved, but each Dunk Low should arrive with a $135 price tag.
