He was a little sketchy about it.
You might not know him by name, but Joshua Vides is the guy responsible for all of those sketchy sneakers (no, not Skechers) you’ve seen floating around the ‘gram for the past 8 or so months.
Unlike Virgil Abloh, he’s not deconstructing sneakers, he’s taking them back to the sketch concepts, and it does it in the most minimalistic way possible — with just black and white paint. He’s worked with adidas, Jordan Brand, StockX and even caught the eye of artists like Takashi Murakami.
Bleacher Report recently caught up with him for a chat, and got him to show his process by customising an Off-White Air Jordan 1. They talk about how he got into art, his illegal artwork, and how he almost threw the opportunity to work with LeBron away.
