Kobe Bryant might've gone down as one of the best forces in the game of basketball, but the Philadelphia-native was always curious about the competitiveness of other sports and disciplines. While growing up in Italy, he became fond of football (soccer) and remained connected to "the beautiful game" all throughout his life.
Bryant's connection to the sport has been best seen in his admiration of and collaborations with Spain's FC Barcelona. Even posthumously, the five-time NBA champion has been linked to the storied club, most recently inspiring Barça's 25/26 Away Jerseys and other apparel. In life, the "Black Mamba" was vocal about having studied football boots in the development of his low-top Nike Basketball footwear, which prompted a shift in the industry that's still relevant today. Come 2026, it seems Nike Football will release a Phantom 6 capsule in collaboration with the Kobe Bryant Estate, further cementing the late superstar's connection to the sport.
Worn by the likes of Erling Haaland, the Nike Phantom 6 is offered in Low and High cuts. Built with enhanced shot accuracy in mind, the silhouette aligns with the killer instinct associated with Bryant's "Mamba Mentality" ethos.
Although the project has yet to be confirmed by the Swoosh as of this writing, pairs have begun to surface across social media. Pictures and video clips showcase every intentional detail found on the collaboration—from Bryant's Sheath logo on the spine and collar's front side to snakeskin patterns on the Cyclone 360 plate underfoot—adding another tally to the Nike Kobe partnership. Hits of purple and emerald appear throughout the pair of boots, but a white-and-black presentation takes over the bulk of the Phantom 6.
According to industry insiders, the Kobe Bryant-inspired football boots will release in Low and High Elite editions. Apparel is expected to arrive alongside the Firm Ground offerings to allow fans to connect with the "Black Mamba"'s legacy even while off-the-pitch.
Stay tuned for details about the project. You can shop all of the Swoosh's available football gear right now via Nike.com.
