20 years ago, Nike inked a monumental deal with a young prospect named LeBron James. The young man they call King James certainly lived up to expectation — and then some — with a fruitful partnership now set to enter its 20th year. To celebrate such a significant milestone, the Swoosh will look to issue a special retrospective release of one of the earliest Player Exclusives issued to James and his friends, with Complexconfirming the very first release of the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Four Horsemen”
Produced in a very limited run back in 2003, the “Four Horsemen” Air Force 1 series was created shortly after Nike signed James. The pairs reference his inner circle of business partners—Maverick Carter, Rich Paul, and Randy Mims—who collectively with James is known as the Four Horsemen. Over the years, Nike produced the sneakers in numerous colorways and the pairs featured personalized embroidery with each member’s initials on the heels.
An internal Nike document suggests that the pair released in 2023 will be the white and green release (original pair pictured below,) though this is yet to be confirmed publicly by the brand. It is also unclear which initials — if any — will feature at the heel.
A release date for the pair has not yet been set, but it has been earmarked for April 2022. Until then, reacquaint yourself with the design here below, and be sure to keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates on its release.
