Devin Booker and McDonald's go back. His turquoise-accented Nike Book 2 collaboration with the fast food franchise—which draws inspiration from an iconic location in Sedona, Arizona—is built on this longstanding relationship.
While unclear of when the Michigan-native tried any item from McDonald's for the first time, his participation in the McDonald's All-American Game is well-documented. Representing Mississippi's Moss Point High School, Booker suited up for the event on April 2, 2014. His 8 points helped secure his side a 105-102 victory in front of a full house at the United Center in Chicago. He would go on to commit to the University of Kentucky and join the Phoenix Suns in June 2015.

Since joining the Suns, Booker has made it a priority to engage with and celebrate Phoenix and greater Arizona. The guard founded the "Devin Booker Starting Five" initiative and regularly partners with Phoenix Suns Charities, committing millions of dollars to local non-profits.
Outside of his philanthropic work, Booker honors his new home through Nike Basketball product. The collaboration with McDonald's further strengthens the 29-year-old's connection to the southwestern state, as it references one of Arizona's most-talked about fast food destinations.
"McDonald’s has been part of my story long before the league – from being a McDonald’s All-American alum to giving back through Ronald McDonald House, my roots with the brand run deep," shared Booker in a press release. "My sneakers have always been about honoring the places in Arizona that have shaped me over the years, and the Nike Book 2 McDonald’s take inspiration from a place I return to every offseason.”
That place is the McDonald's restaurant at 2380 W State Rte 89A in Sedona.

The Sedona-based McDonald's is the only McDonald's in the world to feature turquoise arches. The design choice was intentional as it allows the natural red rock scenery to not be obstructed as it would by standard golden arches. The restaurant has become a tourist attraction thanks to its aesthetic, but it's a place Booker visits every offseason. As such, the iconic location is special to the Suns guard.
The one-of-a-kind McDonald's is the creative force behind the latest Book 2 collaboration. The basketball shoe features an off white and turquoise colorway, with a turquoise "M" logo landing on the lateral heel and tongue label. The pair arrives in a custom box that features a drawing of the Sedona-based restaurant and other turquoise-and-black-colored nods to the fast food empire.
McDonald's and Booker have also unveiled a Friends & Family-edition of the Nike Book sneaker. The ultra-limited pair doubles down on the turquoise flair, featuring it all across its design. Those interested have a chance to win the F&F Book 2 via the McDonald's App starting on Friday, May 22, by "opting into MyMcDonald's Rewards, unlocking the sweepstakes bonus in the Rewards & Deals section, and purchasing one of six new specialty drinks." (Sweepstakes rules and details can be found at book2mcdonalds.com.) The sweepstakes ends on Thursday, May 28.
The general edition of the Sedona-inspired Book 2 releases via Nike.com, Nike SNKRS, and select retailers across the U.S. on Tuesday, June 2, for $155.
Early access to the Nike Book 2 McDonald’s will be given to lucky attendees of a pop-up on Friday, May 29, at McDonald's Sedona (beginning at 1 p.m. PDT).
