Milwaukee Brewers Win First World Series in Franchise History
The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions for the first time in franchise history, completing their 2026 postseason run with a series victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Milwaukee entered Game 5 holding a 3-1 advantage after Tampa Bay avoided elimination with a dramatic 12-inning win the night before. The Brewers responded by taking control early in Game 5, putting themselves in position to finally secure the championship.
The title ends a wait that stretches back to the franchise’s arrival in Milwaukee in 1970. The Brewers had reached the World Series only once before, falling to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games in 1982 after holding a 3-2 series lead.
The 2026 run marked Milwaukee’s first trip back to the Fall Classic in 44 years, with the Brewers reaching the World Series after sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
Now, more than five decades after the franchise moved to Wisconsin, Milwaukee can finally add a World Series championship to its history.
FINAL GAME 4 SCORE: Brewers defeat Rays, 4-1
