Ever since the late 80’s, sneakerheads and geeks alike have been dreaming of owning a futuristic self-lacing shoe all thanks to Robert Zemeck’s cult-classic “Back to the Future, Part II”. The film poised a challenge that only one man would be brave enough to take on — Tinker Hatfield. Of course, when it comes to Tinker, it was never a question of if, but when he could achieve it. In 2016 he did just that in the form of the HyperAdapt. The EARL technology paved the way for the current-day tech, birthing gems like the Adapt BB lineage. Now another technology — video games — is enabling you to unlock a special-edition colorway of Nike’s most advanced tech, with this Nike Adapt BB 2.0 “Chicago” GE set to become available for gamers this week.
The Chicago-inspired colorway first tantalized us during the All-Star weekend thanks to Grizzlies rookie sensation Ja Morant, and now, finally, we have a closer look at the unlockable release. Vivid red saturates a vast majority of the arrangement alongside black sock liners and digital Swooshed as previously seen on the most recent “Tie Dye” delivery. A red Zoom Air Turbo-loaded midsole encases the power-lacing FitAdapt science into the sole, framed by an icy-blue outsole to complete the Windy City styling.
This Gamer exclusive will be available on March 14th, but is only accessible by firing up NBA 2K20, locating the virtual Adapt BB 2.0 “Chicago” Billboard in the Neighborhood for the chance to unlock access to purchase. Get your thumbs ready to add this to the rotation — but be warned of the epic $400 price tag.
