Nike Air Max 180 “Doernbecher” by Ja’Kai Taylor Joins 20th Anniversary Collection

For the first time in the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection’s storied history, the Nike Air Max 180 makes its debut.

Designed by Ja’Kai Taylor, a young athlete and social media enthusiast, the sneaker combines bold aesthetics with personal storytelling. Ja’Kai, who has shared his journey with Type 1 Diabetes through his mother’s TikTok account, channels his vibrant personality and love of sports into this striking design.

The sneaker features a sleek black suede overlay with electrifying lightning bolt graphics, embodying Ja’Kai’s energetic spirit. Beneath this, a gradient midsole fades from electric green to royal blue, adding a dynamic pop of color. Translucent icy outsoles elevate the design, paired with a Jewel Swoosh logo—a first for the Air Max 180.

Ja’Kai personalizes his creation with his name prominently displayed on the heel in the original Air Max 180 typeface, and a soccer crest-inspired hangtag adds an extra layer of uniqueness to the package. The thoughtful details and athletic touches reflect his passion for football, basketball, and soccer, while the bold colors and graphics mirror his journey and creativity.

The Nike Air Max 180 “Doernbecher” by Ja’Kai Taylor is set to release on January 25th, 2025, as part of the 20th annual Doernbecher Freestyle Collection.

Retailing for $150, proceeds from the collection will support the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, continuing its mission to empower young patients through design and storytelling.
