Nike Sportswear has an expansive-enough archive to take over multiple football fields. Over the last few years, the lifestyle-focused branch has shown a particular affinity towards the Air Flight '89 Low, an oft-unheralded design from its basketball history.
Historically trumped in popularity by the similar Air Jordan 4, the model's higher trim was famously worn by Scottie Pippen in the late 1980s. As such, the silhouette has also donned several Chicago Bulls-friendly makeovers since its debut. The most recent ensemble to land on the Air Flight franchise offering opts for a 'White/University Blue/Black' color scheme. Its mostly-two-tone setup and mid-year appearance fall in line with current trends and the Swoosh's seasonal plans. And like the Air Jordan 1 'UNC Reimagined' retro expected in May, the style creates a clear through-line to the University of North Carolina's Tar Heels, a program that boasts a loyal, fervent following looking to buy anything animated with the eye-catching light blue tone.
Enjoy official photos of the 'University Blue'-accented Air Flight '89 Low ahead. Pairs are expected to quietly land via Nike.com by June. The shoe is priced at $140.
