In a move that taps into the heartstrings of nostalgia for sneaker lovers worldwide, Nike is set to usher in a renaissance of one of the most iconic sneakers in its storied history: the Air Foamposite One OG "Royal."

This pivotal announcement comes when the Foamposite lineup has seen a recalibrated approach in its releases, focusing on rarity and nostalgia, veering away from the overproduction that once threatened its exclusivity.

The Foamposite's journey is one of groundbreaking triumphs, unexpected downfalls, and a gradual, respectful revival. At the height of its fame in the early 2010s, the Foamposite was a cultural phenomenon, standing shoulder to shoulder with the illustrious Nike Yeezy collaborations and commanding unprecedented attention in retail and grey markets. However, a glut of releases, including underwhelming colorways and designs, oversaturated the market, leading to a sharp decline in the sneaker's once-untouchable status.

Addressing past missteps with strategic scarcity, Nike has reformed its Foamposite narrative, focusing on quality over quantity. In this context, the return of the OG "Royal" colorway isn't just another release; it's a homage to the origins of Foamposite greatness and a nod to the purists who have stood by this space-age silhouette through thick and thin.

Confirmed through its SNKRS Live feature, Nike has revealed that 2024 will see the re-emergence of the revered "Dark Neon Royal" shade, a move set to stir the souls of '90s sneaker enthusiasts. Moreover, the brand is elevating retro authenticity by reintroducing the black and blue mid-foot carbon fiber shank, a detail untouched since the silhouette's promotional campaigns in 1997 (pictured above).

The pair was last released for the silhouette's 20th anniversary in 2017 (pictured below)
