Just Dropped! Nike Air Force 1 Inspired by Bodega Plastic Bags

The seemingly endless inspiration for Nike’s Air Force 1 has taken the silhouette on a journey to celebrate everything from industry pioneers like Roc-a-fella, to celebrating locales like the NYC Parks, or the famed New York Streetball season. But it’s not just the big names or events that bring influence to the Uptown, with their latest effort taking a surprising turn to everyday life; a visit to the local bodega.

You might not think much about it, but those ultra-thin plastic bags that carry your Hot Tamales and A&W have been serving an important role in society for decades. Now, the Air Force 1 honors the humble plastic bag with a special-edition release that comes adorned in inspired graphics. It’s white leather construction, and its matching white midsoles, liners, and laces match that of your ordinary shopping bag, while a barrage of red reference frequently used decorative motifs. Red rose detail at the ankle, “Just Do it” prints multiples times on the tongue tab in familiar fonts, and a friendly “Thank You” motif in the rear are all-too-familiar for a family-owned bodega. Inclusions like oversized dual pulls that mimic bag handles, and white-translucent Swoosh overlays complete the plastic bag thematic.

Grab a detailed look at these uniquely-inspired Air Force 1s here below, and have already hit a slew of select stores internationally, it’s likely we’ll be receiving a Stateside Nike.comdrop soon. As always, keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
