Nike to Drop a Two-Piece “NY vs NY” Pack to Celebrate the City’s Streetball Leagues

Spy vs Spy.

West 4th Street, Dyckman, and the infamous Rucker — New York City’ s summer basketball leagues are more than just hoops — it’s a cultural event. And in the Summer of 2019, Nike will be celebrating the streetball capital of the world with a special edition NY vs NY (or is that Spy vs Spy) collection. Like the famed MAD magazine comic, the pack splits colorways almost vice-versa, with the Air Force 1 arriving in predominately all-white, and the Charles Barkley-inspired Air Edge 270 sporting an alternate black/orange makeup.

The Air Force 1rocks a cracked pavement-like texture across its white leather base — paying homage to the Concrete Jungle that is New York — with uses of the pack’s black/orange theme used sparingly for its trimmings. “NYC” lace dubraes and eroded Swoosh heel detail add to the Big Apple theme. Meanwhile, the Air Edge 270 heats up the hues, breaking out bold black and orange uppers in ballistic mesh and nubuck, with a heavy-duty material wrapping the toe. Both are completed with a special NY vs NY graphics on the insoles, with the AF1 also sporting it on the tongues, and the Air Edge on the lateral heel.

Take a peep at both NY vs NY Nikes below, and you can expect each pair to release at Jimmy Jazz and Nike.com on June 20th, with the AF1 retailing for an even $100 USD and the Edge 270 for $160 USD.
