First Looks at 2019’s Nike Air Force 1 Doernbecher
Nike’s 16th annual Doernbecher Collection is about to kick-off for 2019, with a slew of special-edition sneakers designed by patients of Portland’s OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital ready to release this month. The lineup includes an Air Force 1 Low, Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2, SB Zoom Janoski RM, Air Max Triax 96, React Element 55, four colorways of the Zoom Pulse, and an Air Jordan 14. We’re still waiting on the official unveiling of the collection, but before the Swoosh get the change we’ve got our hands on the official image set for this year’s Doernbecher Air Force 1 Low
Designed by 14-year-old Zion from Eugene, Oregon, the extremely tasteful take on the Uptown is elegant yet powerful. A classic white-based upper comes brimming with floral detail, with beautifully embroidered roses covering the Swooshes and heel, with a debossed replication of the pattern adorning the toe cap and lacestay overlays. The midsole is trimmed with matte rose satin — a color that’s also found on the heel tab overlay and lining the aforementioned embroidery — and the pair is completed with recognition of Zion’s battle with Hodgkin Lymphoma through the use of “Survivor” wording across the insoles, outsole and above the midsole’s “AIR” branding.
Take a peep at Zion’s graceful take on the Air Force 1 Low below, and be sure to keep your eyes locked on HOUSE OF HEAT for updates on a release date. The full collection will be revealed alongside a limited-edition auction on November 8th at the Peter W. Stott Center.
