Last year, Nike’s Fall footwear catalog was overhauled with a bevy of GORE-TEX-tooled Air Force 1 options that encouraged all-terrain wear, and water-resistant enjoyment. This year it appears we can expect much of the same, with the first of many expected GORE-TEX Air Force 1 drop surfaced for the season ahead.
This pair of boot-like Highs dons the season-staple tan and gum arrangement, though it’s not your typical build. Rugged rubber outsoles are in place of the traditional AF1 sole unit, with uppers constructed in all-out leather. GORE-TEX tongues enable both flexibility and water-resistance, while 3M reflective Swoosh underlays enable low-light visibility. Completing the design is the addition of a thick rear pull, a rubberized ankle strap, and GORE-TEX embroidery in black on the lateral ankle.
