Boogie Down borough’s part in the Air Force 1's early success is not lost on Nike, with the brand celebrating the Bronx through a speciak-edition release late last year that harnessed the sneaker's engrained presence in the wider hip-hop scene. Now it appears that the special-edition Air Force 1 Low “Bronx Origins” will return with an alternate black colorway in 2023, this time celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.

From the inception of hip-hop culture, the inhabitants of the Bronx borough adopted the Air Force 1 as their preferred choice of footwear. From the stylish denizens to the DJs, the sneaker stood as a symbol of success. Fast forward 40 years, while the shoe may not hold the exact same connotation, it has ascended to an unparalleled level of fame. This version, while elegantly simple, provides a clear homage to hip-hop culture with its unique features.

The design boasts CD-inspired iridescent Swooshes that glisten like a spinning record, reflecting the vibrant culture of hip-hop. Complementing is the pair's celebratory vinyl lace bling and insole decal, while classic tumbled black leather uppers and high-fashion-inspired repeat-pattern mid panels and tongues join lush velour liners up top. A stark white sole contrasts the upper while "Bronx Origin" lettering is visible through the translucent outsoles underfoot, a subtle yet powerful nod to the birthplace of hip-hop.

An official release date for the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Bronx Origins” (50th Anniversary) has now been identified for August 11th, with pairs set to hit Nike.com from 10:00 am ET.
