As the lesser-loved of the three cuts, Nike’s Air Force 1 Mid is often an afterthought amongst even the most hardcore sneakerheads. But as has been apparent, the brand has arguably put more focus on the model than the High this year, with everything from city-specific colorways to a special-edition release that documents the model’s 40-year timeline. Now it looks to premium tooling for its next effort, as it gets exotic in reptilian and safari-inspired textures.

Juxtaposing the natural hues of the two main textiles, the Swoosh has employed a simple white and black blocking, with the former dressing the entirety of the release, save the jet black Swooshes. Said Checks arrive in a rhinestone-like finish — a bubbled effect often seen on safari-inspired releases — with every other panel, save the tongues, dressed in a heavily-textured reptilian leather. Lastly, the accompanying branding and sole unit are finished in a classic white on white to complete the design.
