This New Nike Air Force 1 Mid Borrows Big OG Inspiration

Rocking everything from Snakeskin to Plaid, the Air Force 1 has seen some fairly intriguing overhauls during the model’s 40th-anniversary celebration. Yet, despite the enormous amount of releases on offer, a true OG retro of Bruce Kilgore’s original Air Force 1 High from 1982 has evaded us. But we may finally be heading that way, as this new Air Force 1 Mid takes a big step in the right direction, as it applies the original white/grey color scheme to the silhouette — all we need now is to see it in a High top.

We’ve seen the OG reinterpreted in many ways of the last few years, from “Sculpt”sneakers to the new “Unity” design, but we’re still yet to receive something we could legitimately call retro. This effort, though, is much closer, as it rocks the all-white leather construct and grey trim in near one-for-one replication; There is a slight change in material and midsole detail — as well as the obvious mid-cut collar — but it’s as close as we’ve seen to the original for a long, long time.
