Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Aquamarine” Arrives June 2nd
When it comes to baseball, there’s only one sneaker that is universally renowned as a bonafide icon, and that’s The Kid’s Nike Air Griffey Max 1. A streetwear staple since its debut in 1996, its aggressive-yet-organic design paired with its striking color contrast is almost as iconic as Junior’s smooth swing. It celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2021 with an onslaught of colorways new and old, but it appears that there are a few stragglers to come — including this all-new Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Aquamarine” for 2022
Inspired heavily by its OG counterparts, the pair is dressed in a Freshwater-like scheme of white and black with red accents, and the titular green hue. Here, though, the latter arrives in significantly brighter hues than the OG’s deep green coloration, livening up the pair for Spring wear. It serves as the pair’s bulk color, with it hitting the nubuck overlays and pulls. This all sits atop a classic white leather base, with black straps, liners, tongues, and forefoot Swooshes adding some more OG flavor. Swoosh accents around the ankle keep their original red hues, with the sole unit solidified in heritage white and back.
