Outside the NBA area, there are few signature sneakers that rival Ken Griffey Jr’s legendary Air Griffey Max 1. The iconic wave-riddled design recently celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2021, with the new year continuing the momentum both on and off the diamond. The next effort returns to the pavement, but it brings with it some on-field flair, as this new Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Cincinnati Reds” looks to The Kid’s eight-year stint in Ohio.

Though not the original 2011 Cincinnati colorway, this new effort is arguably more suited to the title with it’s red and grey garb more closely aligned to the Reds’ away grey gear. Here, muted grey leather and nubucks build up the release for bright red accents to flood; Its pulls, straps, and forefoot Swooshes all indulge in the franchise hues, and so too does the midsole detail and rubber outsoles underfoot. Insoles and Air supports also arrive in red to round out the design.
