After a stellar year in 2017 for its 30th anniversary, Tinker Hatfield’s Nike Air Max 1found itself in a brief but widely yearned absence. But once again the OG Air Max has been thrust back into the spotlight by-way-of some impressive GRs like the London and Amsterdam “City Pack”, and, of course, Denham‘s upcoming 6,800-pair-produced collaboration. Now it has appeared in a 90s trail aesthetic, the latest in a slew of ACG-like Air Maxes for 2020.
This drop sees not only a bold overhaul in color, but also some subtle material switch-ups that honor the early-90s era of outdoor footwear. Inclusions like white ripstop uppers and punchy black, yellow and blue nylons homage ACG’s history; the same goes for the suede vamp and leather Swoosh overlays in tributing the Air Max 1’s legacy. Other unmistakable trail inspiration arrives by-way-of the flecked laces and midsoles, multi-colored sole units and flashes of volt green within the Air supports, on the upper eyelets, and embroidery on the heel.
