The Nike Air Max 1 Returns in A 'Sanddrift' Makeover

Nike's fictional (but important) Air Max Month is right around the corner. This year's plans for March 26 have been kept under wraps for longer than past years, but the Air Max 1 – the shoe that kicked off the footwear revolution – continues to celebrate in refreshing new styles.

Having launched in a cruel 'It's Not Me, It's You' collection for Valentine's Day, Tinker Hatfield's iconic silhouette has toned things down with a 'Light Bone/Sanddrift/Khaki/Psychic Blue' color scheme. The bulk of the running-informed design opts for a sandy aesthetic that allows for accents like the profile swooshes and visible Air unit to steal some spotlight. The mix of suede and leather panels throughout the upper deliver an elegant look to the classic from 1987.

Underfoot, the tried-and-proven sole unit keeps things simple in color scheme, but the speckled outsole reveals a partly-recycled build. Together, each aforementioned component firmly replants the original Air Max shoe's place in the lifestyle space.
