Spring is ready to, well, spring, and right on cue, Nike will be delivering some fresh new seasonal takes on some of their most revered silhouettes. Here, Tinker Hatfield’s iconic Air Max 1 is retooled for the season ahead, and delivered in a palate that is quintessentially Spring, with Easter-aligned pastels of pink, green, purple and blue, along with the oft-used iridescent finish that’s seen on countless Easter sneakers of years past — including this year’s Air Max 90 and Air Force 1 Low. It’s found here on the profile Swooshes in an oil slick-like finish, pulling in similar colors to that of the man-made fabrications in which it sits upon. Vintage-inspired flat tongues and it’s coordinating tags provide new elements for the silhouettes, with rounder laces and more pronounced piping around the collar also adding a fresh twist. Underfoot remains relatively regular, with a classic white midsole/black rubber outsole combo, yet the former houses a vibrant pop of volt within the Air unit. Completing the design are more special branding hits, including 3D-embroidered Nike Air heel hits, and iridescent “AIR” lettering on the insoles.
A release date for this pastel and iridescent embellished Air Max 1 did not accompany the official image set below, but you can expect pairs to start hitting select stores and Nike.com over the coming weeks as we head into Spring.
