Well, this is extreme. Nike’s maximalist makeup that is the Air Max 270 React has just surfaced in its boldest rendition yet, with this Orange/Volt/Metallic Gold/Metallic Silver and Translucent-covered colorway.

Where the hell do you begin with this? Translucent toe and mid panels arrive overlayed by high-shine, patterned metallic silver detail, which is then capped with milky-gold heel-to-toe and tongue overlays. Vibrant Volt pops in a myriad of placements, from the profile Swoosh to the lacestays and Air Unit, while equally bold Orange arrives on the liners, upper eyelets, and outsole. In a welcome break from the overt offering, pale lavender toes and tongue, and clean white midsoles offer some sort of normality. But that’s thrown out the window again when you peer on into the shoe, with chaotic printed midsoles completing the design.
