Whether it is collaborations, redesigns, or — most frequently — themed collections, the Swoosh sure know how to get the most out of their retro silhouettes. The latter category of collections has recently seen themes including retro supporter wear (Sorts Specialties) to sherpa fleece-lined “Toasty” selections. Now there’s another pack on the horizon — one which encourages the wearer to get a little creative. The next to appear is this Nike Air Max 90 “Alter & Reveal” which, as the title suggests, features hidden details only visible through alteration.

Here, it’s the rub-away guards, toe boxes, and Checks that house a hidden finish beneath. Once removed, the tan and black top layers reveal guards of gold, toes of orange, and Swooshes of royal blue. Surrounding hues arrive in line with an ACG aesthetic, with shaggy bone suede, black denim, and flecked Air cassettes. Pops of royal and orange hit the toe and Air supports, and the pair is finished off by several elements shared across the collection, including zig-zag stitching, and “Alter & Reveal” branded tongues and insoles.
