Nike Sportswear's visible Air-donning efforts throughout the year have been largely dedicated to the Air Max 95 and Air Max Dn8, largely ignoring the 35th anniversary-celebrating Air Max 90. Although no special releases or high-profile collaborations are expected throughout the remainder of 2025, it seems the Swoosh will treat Tinker Hatfield's masterpiece to some special treatments throughout 2026.
The Nike Air Max 90 is set to launch in a “Black/Neon Yellow” colorway during the first half of 2026. Official images reveal a layered construction featuring breathable grey mesh uppers, soft suede overlays, and a blacked-out midsole that grounds the design. Volt-like neon accents energize the Swoosh, tongue branding, and visible Air unit, delivering sharp contrast without overwhelming the silhouette’s classic lines.
The familiar color blocking intentionally recalls the legendary “Neon” Air Max 95, a connection reinforced by the vibrant green Air bubble and eye-catching hits throughout the upper. Never shy to reference its own archive, Nike has frequently applied Sergio Lozano’s disruptive palette across multiple franchises over the years. Models like the Air Jordan 4 and Mercurial Vapor boots have adopted similar treatments, while the Air Max 90 itself last explored this territory in 2005, when a Dave White collaboration with size? introduced a comparable tonal mix.
