Nike Applies Two (Faux) Croc Skin Makeovers to the Air Max 90

The Nike Air Max 90 turned 35-years-old in 2025. Given that it was competing with other silhouettes that were also celebrating milestone anniversaries, the iconic design had a relatively quiet year. Two newly-surfaced faux croc-clad styles, however, suggest the sneaker will roll its celebration over into 2026.

The duo has surfaced following reports that the original "Infrared" Air Max 90 will return in '26. Each pair sees reptilian makeovers across its signature mudguards. Rather understated color schemes—"Black/Sail/Anthracite/Light Smoke Grey" and "Tattoo/Light Violet Ore/White/Burgundy Crush"—cover Tinker Hatfield's famous Air Max design, working in-tandem with the aforementioned croc skin to breathe elegance into the retro runner.

Elsewhere, traditional mesh bases are replaced with smooth leather material, further speaking to the duo's luxe update.
