In last year’s leadup to the 30th Anniversary of the Air Max 90, Nike unloaded a colorful “Viotech” rendition of the revered silhouetteto get the proverbial juices flowing. However, now that we’ve arrived at the sneaker’s 30th birthday, releases have been relatively tame, mostly popping up in tonal takes or OG-inspired white/black/grey paired with singular color pops. This next-up Air Max 90 reverts back to cues from last year’s vibrant release, channeling the pair’s primary color pops and heavy use of suede.

The pair presents University Gold mesh uppers, which arrive overlayed by highly-saturated suede panels of pink at the toe and vamp, and royal along with the mudguards and lower lacestays. The two colors pop up again on the plastic eyelets, with blue also hitting the lateral Air Max panel. The rear rubber overlay rides tonal in gold, as does the tongue and liner. Stark white laces, tongue tags, and midsole cut through the colors like a hot knife through butter, and the pair is capped off with a black, white and blue rubber outsole.
