If you're a diehard fan of the Nike Air Max 90, you likely had a specific thought throughout 2025: Where's a 35th anniversary retro of the original "Infrared" style? Well, you're going to have to wait a few more months.
According to Sole Retriever, Tinker Hatfield's iconic Air Max silhouette returns in a "White/Particle Grey/Light Smoke Grey/Black/Infrared 23" color scheme first seen in 1990 come Spring 2026. Given how much focus was paid to the Air Max 95, Air Jordan 1, and Air Jordan 5 throughout '25, it's understandable why the AM90 wasn't a focus for the Swoosh conglomerate. That, however, is expected to change throughout the next calendar year, although it's possible a scarcer retro cycle occurs given that the third-ever Air Max isn't as popular nowadays.
The "Infrared" pair's most recent "Hoorah!" took place in 2020 in commemoration of the Air Max 90's 30th anniversary. The color palette has emerged on variations of the old school running model, but none have captured the same fervor of "Infrared" releases of the past. Much about the next retro remains under wraps, but the style is expected to faithfully recreate Hatfield's design from '90.
