Fired Chicken Inspired Air Max 90 “Swoosh Mart” Arrives March 19th

2021 has seen Nike’s Air Max icons take a shining to Japan’s obsession with convenience stores. From the Air Max 97 “Energy Jelly”, to the Air Max 90 “Onigiri” — and anAir Max 95 inspired by magazines, the brand has focuses on specific elements that make up the wonderous world of mini-marts. The next to appear focuses on self-serve hot snacks, a staple of Japanese culture.

The pair’s yellow and white striped uppers are inspired by a locally familiar fried chicken wrapping paper, while peeled off overlays reveal a savory fried chicken-inspired designed beneath. Furthermore, the insole is printed with tongs that grab the convenient hot snacks — a strong ally of sneakerheads during three-day camp-outs. Metallic silver eyelets and rear overlays channel foil-lined containers, while nude outsoles and Air cassettes mimick the delicious chicken flesh that fills the hunger void.
