Available Now // Nike Air Max 90 “Ultramarine”
Two years ago, the Nike Air Max 180 made a triumphant return to retailers after a five-year hiatus. It returned for Air Max Day in its most famous of colorways: the white, blue and red “Ultramarine”. The OG kickstarted a slew of inspired releases, including a Huarache, and Air Max Fury and a Jordan Flight Club 91. None of those shared the same Air Max DNA, which made them all feel kinda forced, bur for the Air Max 180’s closest neighbor, this Air Max 90 “Ultramarine” release feels right at home.
Here, Nike’s marquee Air Max 90 borrows the famed color scheme of White, Ultramarine and Solar Red made famous by 1991’s Air Max 180 OG in an almost one-for-one blocking. White mesh uppers arrived overlayed by smooth tonal leathers along the mudguard, vamp, and lower lacestays, while vivid Solar Red accents around the heel branding and Air window channel the original 91 release. Vibrant blue Swooshes and tongue liners arrive akin to the inspiring pair, while slight differences like white liners, red forefoot lacestays and the absence of black rubber outsoles somewhat separate this release from a direct copy.
