Nike Air Max 95 “Anatomy of Air” Arrives July 28

Drawing inspiration from the anatomy of the human being, Sergio Lozano’s Air Max 95’s layered approach is a result of both natural erosion, and how the human body clings to its surrounding tissue. The final shoe had an upper with layered panels that resembled muscle fibers and flesh, Nylon eyelets that were fashioned after ribs, and a midsole that took after the spine. Given the nature of the inspiration, Nike rarely takes a literal approach to the design — which is what makes this new Nike Air Max 95 “Anatomy of Air” collection so very special.

With two colorways on the way — one skeletal, the other flesh — we take a look at the latter in a fitting theme that mimics the function of muscle and tendon. The connective tissue is replicated on the white upper and uppermost overlays, before working down into pinks and deep reds as the overlays cascade downwards. The fibers of each muscle layer are defined by noticeable stitch lines — a finish that’s replicated by ribbed finishes at the eyestays, laces, and tongue tags. Synovial-colored soles and rear overlays continue the theme, with a literal representation of flesh resting underfoot on the outsole shank.

A release date for this all-new Nike Air Max 95 “Anatomy of Air” (Flesh) is yet to be revealed, but you should expect to see pairs hit select stores and Nike.com over the coming months.
