Batman's Classic Colors Take Over the Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble

Nike's Big Bubble revival of the Air Max 95 will kick off in April with a return of the model's original "Neon" color scheme. Handfuls of other styles donning the plump Airbag, however, have already surfaced—including a pair reminiscent of DC Comics' Batman.

Officially clad in "Black/Buff Gold/Anthracite," the newly-surfaced Air Max sneaker has no connection to the beloved comic book franchise, but its color palette and blocking evoke images of the Caped Crusaders' classic costume. The nature-inspired overlays lining the profiles divvy up shades of "Black/Anthracite," with the panel just above mesh lace guards opting for a reflective finish. Swooshes across the upper and Air Max branding on the tongue indulge in a "Buff Gold" that draws a through-line to Batman's yellow chest emblem. The same flair animates the plump Air unit at the heel, which features a seam through the center that differentiates it from most AM95's released between 2006 and 2024.

Parts of the outsole also partake in the Gotham City-appropriate color scheme, as do the insoles. And while the big bubbled-pair is the latest style to appear in the vigilante's look, it isn't the first. Over the last decade, several silhouettes from the revolutionary Air Max franchise have taken on shades of black-and-yellow. Some greyscale tones usually join the mix, enabling the Batman-connection. We'll never know if Bruce Wayne's secret identity would've worn any pair, but we know he wore Air Jordans.
