In recent years, the Nike, Inc. conglomerate has shown a particular interest in the culture, colors, and customers of Mexico. Though the brand no longer sponsors the country's national football team, it continues to acknowledge the connection between "the beautiful game" and "El Tricolor"—especially as the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ tournament inches closer.

It's becoming an annual tradition for the Nike Sportswear and Air Jordan teams to launch commemorative product celebrating Mexico, and it seems the trend continues with an Air Max 95. Widely-dubbed "Mexico" by netizens due to its official color scheme of "Phantom/Team Red/Fir/Alabaster/Peony/White," the pair is rooted in the idea of "El Tercer Tiempo" (The Third Half). Logos for a fictional football club with the same name (though stylized as "El 3º Tiempo") appear on the sneaker's spine, a detail that's sure to appear on other product ahead of the World Cup™.

The "Third Half" refers to the post-football match revelry that's an integral part to community-building. This isn't exclusive to football, but Nike's choice makes sense given that Mexico will be co-host of the '26 football event.

An off white tone covers the bulk of the impending Air Max, sharing the spotlight with rich green and deep red tones. The forefoot overlay opts for the former hue, while the latter claims lace loops along the tongue. Both colors come together to form flame graphics along the lateral profile, a potential nod to the figurative trail of fire left by a football stuck just right, or the fiery spirit often associated with Mexicans.

Insoles and part of the outsole feature get at the flame motif, connecting it to a love of the sport that doesn't extinguish ("Amor que no se apaga"). This is about football, but it could also not be about football.

Enjoy detailed shots of the Mexico-related Air Max 95 ahead. Pairs should begin rolling out via Nike.com by the beginning of June.
