Available Now // Nike Air Max 97 “Koi”

Though the nation is widely known for its connection to the Air Max 95, Japan and the Air Max 97 are equally bonded; after all, Christian Tresser’s design was inspired by the industrial bullet trains that speedily glide across the island nation. To honor this, Nike will deliver a specially-themed release, the Air Max 97 “Koi”, as an accompanying pair to the previously-previewed Air Max 95 of the same name.

Though the fish itself is often vibrant in orange and white, Nike has opted for golden yellow hues as an alternate, employing woven white uppers and reflective overlays to assist. Golden hues can be found on the tongue and sueded guards, with special scale detail delivered on the tongue, mid panel, and outsole that directly reference the koi; the insoles do this in a more literal sense. All of this rests atop a milky-white sole unit underfoot, one which comes complete with a golden tan top and tail detail.

A release date for this new Nike Air Air Max 97 “Koi” is yet to be revealed, but you should expect to see pairs hit select stores and Nike.com over the coming weeks.
