Nike’s Air Max “City Special” collection will conclude with none-other than the City of Angels, completing a trifecta often seen in almost every Stateside city pack. Chicago’s Air Max 90 and New York’s “Taxi” Air Max 95 will be joined by this striking orange Air Max 97 “Los Angeles” in what will like ybe the final installment of the pack.
Like the other before it, this pair appears to be inspired by LA life. Be it the breathtaking sunsets over the Pacific, or ostensibly an ode to the humble fruit industry of SoCal, the pair boasts a vibrance that only LA (or Miami) can bring. It also brings a causal West Coast construction of canvas, with uppers and overlays differing ever-so-slightly in hue. Underfoot is much of the same, with shifting shades of orange throughout. Contrast pops of jet black at the branding pulls and outsole detail provide some break-up, while special-edition LA tags and insoles arrive in-line with the pack to complete the design.
Update 03.08.21 Originally scheduled for a late February drop, the Nike Air Max 97 “Los Angeles” has now reappeared on Foot Locker’s launch calendarfor a March 27th release.
