1999’s The Matrix is still one of, if not the best Fantasy/Sci-Fi films ever made. It’s birthed many quotes, sayings, and even memes — which just goes to show how much clout the film franchise still holds to this day. Now the equally-iconic Air Max 97 has surfaced in a theme that mimics the Maxtrix’s falling green digital code seen plastered all over the films movie posters, collateral, and merchandise.

The digitized print drips down the pair’s synthetic overlays in characters from languages around the world, while it’s mesh base and upper 3M reflective overlays remain a simple black. Branding is tonal, too, with black Swooshes on the profile and digitized “97” on the tongue. The only pop of color up top arrives at the heels, with Air Max branding arriving in Green Glow. Underfoot you’ll find a jet-black midsole and support shank system, with a full-length glow-in-the-dark rubber outsole to complete the design.
