Christian Tresser's iconic Air Max 97 has been dressed in many ways over the past 26 years, with college inspiration just one of the many avenues the brand seems to take on occasion. In 2023, it appears that Nike will bring some scholar back to the silhouette, with this new Air Max 97 "Michigan" appearing ahead of the spring/summer season.

This iteration of the Nike Air Max 97 showcases a White mesh base complemented by Wolverine hues of Navy and Maize. The former arrives boldly across the leather mudguard and tongue tag, over the textile sock liners and pulls, through the Air support system, and finally, straking through the rubber outsole. Yellow is used more sparingly, with a solo medial streak and Swoosh branding benefitting from the hue.
