Nike Air Max 97 “Neon” Is Inspired by the Original Air Max 95
Repurposing original colorways from one silhouette to another has been a go-to option for the Swoosh for several years. From the Air Max 1 to the Air Jordan 1, OG colorways have found themselves on alternate silhouettes like the Dunk, Air Max 95, and Air Force 1. Now, the Christian Tresser-designed Air Max 97 is next on deck for Nike’s repurposing program, as the silhouette is set to borrow a legendary color scheme from its two-year-older sister, the Air Max 95
As the theme goes, the colorway works in OG Air Max 95-inspired hues of grey, black, and neon green, with the former providing the pair’s base while graduating greys work downwards to dark blacks – just as Sergio Lozano designed the original Air Max 95.
The brightest hues arrive in style, with striking neon hits along the Air supports, tongue motifs, and mini Swooshes to round out the design.
A release date for this all-new Nike Air Max 97 “Icons” has just been set for May 1st.
